So Well Designed - They Are Archetypes of Their Categories

The Jaguar XKE (1961) 61 years old
The Most Beautiful Car Ever Made” Enzo Ferrari
First shown at the Geneva Auto Show in 1961, the Jaguar XKE was light years ahead of the popular cars during the 60’s and 70’s, (Mustangs and Corvettes) not only aesthetically but in power and performance (12 cylinder engine and a top speed 150 MPH). This car is still highly desirable today and commands top prices. An early Jaguar XKE in excellent condition can easily sell for $130,000 today.

Mosrite “Ventures Model Guitar” (1963) 59 years old
Arguably the most beautiful solid-body electric guitar ever made. It featured a reverse Strat-style body with a German curve, and a Vibramute vibrato. It came in a wide range of colors and the best 3-piece sunburst finish in the business. With it’s super-hot pickups, it produced a unique sound and was played by many surf and rock guitarists including the Ventures, Jimi Hendrix, The Ramone’s, Tommy Tedesco, The Strawberry Alarm Clock, Iron Butterfly and Kurt Cobain.

Unfortunately this guitar never attained the popularity of the Fender Strat because the neck was too narrow and slim and the frets were too thin for many guitarists. A Mostie Venures model from the 1960’s in excellent condition can easily sell for more than $4,000.

Santa Fe “Warbonnet” Diesel Locomotive (1937) in use for 53 years
I could have chosen the Japanese Shinkansen as the most beautiful locomotive, however the Santa Fe WarBonnet (from the Streamliner age (1930’s to WWII) was and still is the most endeared locomotive design of all time. This locomotive style was used from 1937 well into the 1980’s when it was gradually replaced with the flat boxy style locomotives we see today.

Leland A. Knickerbocker, an artist at General Motors designed the livery for the new, E1 diesels that began with a shovel nose. The name Warbonnet was derived from the Native American headress used in times of war. In 1948 Lionel Trains (maker of toy trains) released the Santa Fe Warbonnet and it became its biggest seller. Today this model in excellent condition (from the 50’s to 60’s) can easily fetch more than $500.
